La Teta Asustada, also known as The Milk of Sorrow, is a Peruvian drama film directed by Claudia Llosa. It tells the story of Fausta, a young woman who suffers from a rare condition called 'the milk of sorrow,' which is passed down through generations of women who were raped or abused during the years of terrorism in Peru. The film explores themes of trauma, memory, and healing, as Fausta tries to overcome her fears and find her own voice. La Teta Asustada won the Golden Bear at the 59th Berlin International Film Festival and was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 82nd Academy Awards.
