Undertow, also known as Contracorriente, is a Peruvian drama film directed by Javier Fuentes-León. The story revolves around Miguel, a fisherman in a small coastal town, who is married and expecting a child with his wife, Mariela. However, Miguel is also in love with Santiago, a painter from Lima. The film explores themes of love, sexuality, and societal expectations, as Miguel struggles to reconcile his desires with the traditional values of his community. Undertow was well-received by critics and won several awards, including the World Cinema Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival.
