Madeinusa is a Peruvian film directed by Claudia Llosa. It tells the story of Madeinusa, a young girl living in a remote village in the Peruvian Andes. Every year, during the Holy Week celebrations, the villagers believe that God is dead and that sin does not exist, leading to a period of lawlessness and debauchery. Madeinusa finds herself caught between tradition and her own desires, as she develops a forbidden relationship with a young geologist who is visiting the village. The film explores themes of tradition, sexuality, and the clash between modernity and rural life. Madeinusa won several awards, including the World Cinema Jury Prize at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival.
