Undertow, also known as Contracorriente, is a Peruvian film directed by Javier Fuentes-León. It tells the story of Miguel, a fisherman in a small coastal town, who is married and expecting a child with his wife, Mariela. However, Miguel is also in love with Santiago, a painter from Lima. The film explores themes of love, sexuality, and societal expectations, as Miguel struggles to reconcile his feelings for Santiago with his responsibilities to his wife and community. Undertow won several awards, including the World Cinema Audience Award at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
