Batman: The Dark Knight Returns is a graphic novel by Frank Miller. Set in a dystopian future, the story follows an aging Bruce Wayne as he comes out of retirement to fight crime in Gotham City once again. The Dark Knight Returns is credited with revitalizing the Batman character and introducing a darker, grittier tone to the superhero genre. It is considered a seminal work in comic book history.
