Undertow, also known as Contracorriente, is a Peruvian drama film directed by Javier Fuentes-León. It tells the story of Miguel, a fisherman in a small coastal town, who is married and expecting a child with his wife Mariela. However, Miguel is also in love with Santiago, a painter from Lima. The film explores themes of love, sexuality, and societal expectations, as Miguel struggles to reconcile his desires with the traditional values of his community. Undertow won several awards, including the World Cinema Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival.
