The Blue Mosque, also known as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, is a historic mosque in Istanbul, Turkey. It was built between 1609 and 1616 during the rule of Ahmed I. The mosque is famous for its blue tiles and six minarets. It is still an active mosque and is closed to non-worshippers during prayer times. Visitors are required to remove their shoes and women must cover their heads before entering the mosque.
